The Prayer of Adoration

Scripture: "Exalt the LORD our God! Bow low before his feet, for he is holy!" Psalms 99:5 NLT

Song Inspiration: You Deserve It - J.J. Hairston & Youthful Praise

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary tells us that adore means to worship or honor and to regard with loving admiration and devotion. God seeks adoration from us simply because He deserves it. He is the one and only true God, and is worthy of all praise!

Before we begin to ask God for anything, it is very important that we acknowledge Him and His goodness. Tell God how much you love Him and how much you appreciate Him. First give thanks for the things He has already done. (My pastor always reminds my church family and I that everyday is a day of thanksgiving.) Give Him reverence and bless His holy name. Doing this at the beginning of every prayer is what will make your prayer effective.

God already knows what we need before we even ask for it, so why do we even pray?

The answer is to build relationship with God. What makes prayer more personal is worship. Who and what is God to you? How much do you love Him and how will you choose to honor Him? Express those things during prayer, as this will not only make your prayer more effective, but it will help you grow spiritually as you continue this prayer journey.

God loves when we give Him praise, so let's please our God with the praise He is due.

This Week's Journal Prompt: Write a letter of adoration to God. Don't ask for anything in this particular letter. Just adore God with your words of love and admiration.
