Make Room For Jesus

Updated: Apr 12, 2021

Recently, I felt like I wasn’t giving God enough of my time. While working a full-time job and focusing on other things like my YouTube channel and my blog, I started feeling drained. I was slacking when it came to having quiet time with God. Some days, I wasn’t even having quiet time at all. Most days, I wished I could just chill and do nothing. Here I was feeling drained, neglecting to turn to the very person who could make me feel reFRESHed.

I decided it was time for a change. I decided it was time to Make Room...

Sometimes we can get so caught up in our everyday lives that we don’t stop to acknowledge God the way we should. 10% of a 24-hour period is roughly 2 ½ hours. Do we even give God a tithe of our time?

When the demands of life seem to weigh you down, how do you respond? For me, I used to do what I thought was resting and relaxing. I’d come home from a long day of work and turn on Netflix, stress eat, or lay around and just do nothing. The funny part is that I didn’t feel better afterward. I didn't gain anything from my “relaxation”.

I still felt drained. I still felt stressed. I still felt tired. Putting two and two together, I realized that I wasn’t spending enough time with God. I turned to other things in search of refreshment. But I didn’t feel reFRESHed. I didn’t feel renewed. I didn’t feel recharged. I didn’t go to the power source. Instead, I went for things that gave me a false positive. I had to turn to the real deal: God.

I want you to evaluate how much time you’re spending with God every day. Do you think it’s enough? Are you acknowledging Him like you ought to? I know life can get so hectic and crazy, and we tend to do a bunch of “ripping and running” on the daily, but have you taken the time to be still and know your God for who He is? (Psalms 46:10) If you feel there is more you can offer God, now is the time to MAKE ROOM. Don’t wait. Don’t procrastinate when it comes to God. We really don’t know how much time we have on this Earth, so make it count.

We make plans for everything else, but when’s the last time you schedule a chat with God? We say we love God, but are we showing Him? (Remember love is an action word.)

It’s time to MAKE ROOM! It’s time to prepare room for two. (You and God!) Everything that’s in the way, it’s time to move that over. It’s time to push it aside and position God in the center of our lives.

I remember telling God that I wanted to get closer to Him and that I wanted to spend more time with Him. I knew I had to give something up…

God said, “You really love me? Cut out everything at 10:00 p.m. and end your night with me.” Whew chile, that may not sound like a hard thing to do, but God knew exactly what my struggle was. He knows I love spending hours on YouTube, Netflix, & social media right before bed. No wonder I always woke up upset and tired.

He said, “Just imagine how you’d feel if you started every morning and every night with me. Just imagine how reFRESHed you’d feel. All you have to do is MAKE ROOM.”

Read: James 4:8 ; Psalms 46:10 ; Ephesians 3:17

Song Inspiration: Make Room - Jonathan McReynolds

For this week, I want you to intentionally set aside time to spend with God. I’m challenging you to go beyond your norm as well. If you usually spend 15 minutes a day with God, try 20 or 30 minutes. If you usually read the bible from your phone or another device, try reading a physical copy. (I strongly encourage you to get a physical copy if you don't already have one. It’ll change ya life.)

You can even space out your time as well. I love talking to God throughout the day while I'm on the job, while I'm out shopping, or even while eating dinner. Incorporate conversations with God into your day as much as you can! He'd love to hear from you!

Peace & Blessings,
