Scriptures: The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalms 27:1 KJV)
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7 KJV)

In everything I do concerning ministry, as I was always taught to do, I make sure that while I'm ministering to others, I'm also ministering to myself. So, please know that this post in particular is for me just as much as it is for you.
Most of us, if not all of us, had a fear of at least one thing while growing up. From heights to public speaking, I'm sure we can all agree we've had some type of experience with fear. For years, I've been trying to shake the feeling of being fearful because I know my God did not give me that spirit. Fear is simply the devil's way of getting us off track and distracting us from what God has planned for our lives.
In today's post, I want to get a little more personal about my experience with fear and how I'm working towards overcoming it. Overall, I hope my transparency will help those who may be struggling with living fearless...
Recently, my mom, my brother, and I went to a local carnival, where they had a good number of rides. The ride that caught my eye was, of course, the biggest one: the ferris wheel. Ever since I was a little kid, I was always afraid of high rides, worried that something would break or malfunction in the midst of me being in the air. But on that day, I said I had to let that fear go. I said to myself, "I shall not worry, because my God is a protector. All I have to do is trust Him,"
After the first go around, I started to get a little more relaxed and comfortable with being so high in the air. Just looking over the whole carnival from above was actually fun and even breathtaking because I was able to see a part of God's creation from a different view. It's so amazing when we can overcome fear and see what we've been missing out on.
Still, some of us may think, "Well, if God didn't give us a spirit of fear, why are we even capable of fearing?" God himself does not place fear upon us. With our freedom to choose, Satan is able to come in and shake up our feelings and emotions, creating that spirit of fear. Personally, I see fear as another way of testing our faith. Ultimately, it is up to us as God's children to decide if we are going to fail that test and allow fear to take over our lives. This is why it is so important to understand why the Lord decides to test us. (Make sure to check out 'Walk Into Your Season' to read a little more about faith testing.)
Will you truly believe that the Lord is your light and salvation? Will you remain confident in that? And will you make the decision to see the goodness of the Lord? Whom and what shall you be afraid of? Absolutely nothing!
My encouragement for you (and myself) today is this: Overcoming fear isn't easy, but just be mindful that God loves you. He wants to see you grow in your faith and overcoming fear is a huge part of that. He shall not steer you wrong.
He is your light. He is your salvation. You shall not fear anyone or anything. He is with you at all times. With whatever fear(s) you may be facing, I pray that God strengthens you in those areas so, you too, can work towards living fearless...
