When we pray, we have to remember that prayer should be a dialogue between us and God. Prayer is a conversation with the Father. Once we are done acknowledging Him and making our requests known, that shouldn't be the end of it. We should be still and listen to what our Father has to say. How can we expect God to answer prayer if we don't allow Him the time to do so?
Sometimes we might complain and feel like the Lord has forgotten about us or that He doesn't hear us. One thing about God is that His ear is always open and He's always ready to listen. But what about us? If we pray and then immediately get up and go about the rest of our day, we are basically closing off our ears to God's voice. Prayer should be talking with God, not talking at Him. We should listen to what He has to say concerning our prayers.
Even when we're not in our routined prayer time, we can still be sensitive to the Holy Spirit throughout the day. We can ask Him for guidance and work towards keeping Him on our minds at all times. When we listen to the Spirit, we are able to know and understand God's will concerning any situation.
When we listen to the Spirit, we are surrendering our plans and letting Him take the lead. When we listen to the Spirit, we acknowledge that He is in control and that He knows what's best for us.
Take a moment and listen to what God has to say today.
