His Unordinary Love

Updated: Dec 27, 2020

A few days ago, I found myself feeling stuck. Stuck within my emotions...stuck within my overwhelming thoughts.

I tried explaining to a friend how I felt. And she offered advice that seemed rather short and meaningless. Now, I know my sister and I know she meant the absolute best with the advice she gave, but I still felt as though she didn't quite understand where I was coming from. And in that moment, I still felt stuck...wondering how I was going to overcome those emotions...

Later on that night, I couldn't sleep. It was around 2 o' clock in the morning and I was wide awake, very much consumed with my thoughts.

So, as some would do, I began to pray and just pour my heart out to God. Telling him how frustrated I was with some of the circumstances in my life. Telling Him that I was so confused about what I should do concerning my problems. And telling Him how alone I felt.

After dumping out my thoughts to God, I just laid in the bed and cried myself to sleep.

As sad as that may sound, I woke up the next morning feeling a lot better. As He always does, God listened to me. He consoled me. And because I turned to Him, I experienced His Love like no other in that moment.

It's crazy to think that when I tried to talk to a friend about my problems, I still felt the same afterwards. But when I talked to God, my whole perspective changed...

Scriptures:

"I will be glad and rejoice in your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul." Psalms 31:7 NLT

"I knew you before I formed you in your mother's womb. Before you were born I set you apart..." Jeremiah 1:5 NIV

Song Inspiration:

Ordinary Just Won't Do - Commissioned

You Know My Name - Tasha Cobbs Leonard

Ordinary Just Won't Do is one of my absolute most favorite songs of ALL time! I could play it on repeat for hours on end. It's a song that tells of God's unordinary love. Do you know anyone on this earth that would give their son away to die for the mistakes YOU made?! Or do you know anyone that's actually "always there for you"?

As humans, we may often hear "I'll always be there for you". But no human can be there for you like God can. For He is omnipresent, and is truly always with you.

When you're feeling a little down and you're by yourself at night, remember that God is right beside you, waiting to hear from His child. Open up to Him, share your most intimate thoughts with Him. He's listening. And always will be.

Tasha wrote a song to remind you that He knows your name. In fact, He knew you before you were even formed in your mother's womb. He walks with you and if you spend time in His presence, you'll know He talks with you too. (Isn't God amazing?!)

He loves us so much! And He's with us every step of the way!

At the start of this pandemic, I acknowledged that my prayer life wasn't where I wanted it to be. I struggled A LOT with knowing what to say and how to say it. But with the help of a friend, I was reminded that prayer isn't about sophistication or how long you can talk to God. Prayer is simply dialogue with God. It's just you and Him...

For months I prayed, asking God to strengthen my prayer life and my relationship with Him. And it wasn't until last month that I decided to buy a journal specifically for prayer. I owned a guided prayer journal with writing prompts, but I wanted a journal with blank pages so I could freely talk to God about whatever was on my mind.

It's honestly been a game changer for my prayer life, and if you don't have a prayer journal, I strongly suggest you get one! With this journal, I've embraced that God is truly my friend...He's my best friend. And His Love for me is greater than any love on Earth.

I pray you are encouraged and that you will continue to experience His Love through your singleness with this series. There's so much more to come, so be sure to stay connected with me.
