Hey girl, hey! As a single woman, this is probably not the first time you've tried to navigate this single life with the help of some advice. You may have read many books, received wise counsel, or maybe you've come to the conclusion that you're just going to be single for the rest of your life. I get it. I've been there. And after experiencing all of that, you're probably looking for something more unique, something that may not have been suggested or mentioned on the topic of singleness. My prayer is that this blog post will be just that!
I know what it feels like to be single, and believe it or not, God does too. He can relate! (I'll get into that in a little later.)
I want to talk about how experiencing God's love can help you on your journey of singleness. Once you know just how much He loves you, navigating the single life becomes much easier. I'm a witness and I'm here to share my experience with encountering His Love on a daily...
Scripture: "And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow---not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love." - Romans 8:38 NLT
Music Inspiration:
Very often, I find myself in a space where I’m experiencing loneliness. I’m very aware that I have family who loves me, friends who are always there for me, but yet, I feel alone. (Anybody else know the feeling?)
Imma keep it real (cause I know I’m not the only one), it’s not easy watching others be in long term relationships, get married, and experience life with their significant other.
It’s not easy when the guy you thought was the one actually left you hanging (or did you 'dirty', as we sometimes like to say). It’s not easy when it seems like every guy you’ve ever dated isn’t serious about having a godly relationship. Or maybe you’re at a point where you feel like God has completely forgotten about you.
Can I be the one to tell you that He hasn’t forgotten about you? That He’s thinking of you every single day? That He knows exactly how you feel?
It took me awhile to realize that...
I would ask God, “Where my husband at?” or I’d jokingly get frustrated saying, “God, if you ran out of husbands, just say that.”
But through my frustration, God was saying “Daughter, if you would just delight yourself in me, I will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4)
All God has been wanting me to do is just love on Him. Spend time with Him. Trust Him. And trust His plans for my life. (Jeremiah 29:11)
I’ve experienced a lot of hurt and heartbreak, and if I’m being honest, I caused a lot of it.
I completely went against God’s Will for my life, and chose to chase what I thought was love. I went after temporary happiness and caused myself long lasting pain. And the crazy part about it is, God knew I was going to do that!
Sometimes we may ask God, “If you knew I was going to mess up, why would you allow me to do it in the first place?”
I believe that I experienced my hurt and heartbreak so that God could get me to this point...
The point of wanting to experience His Love FIRST, before yearning for a love that may be conditional. For His love is so unconditional and unlike any other love we have or ever will encounter on this earth.
During the month of October, I will be dedicating some blog posts to my single ladies with a Blog Series entitled: Experiencing His Love Through Singleness.
Now if you're not much of a reader, it's my mission to make this series fun, interactive, and so inspiring that you'll want to come back every time I drop a post! Yes, we're gonna talk about dating, we're gonna talk about how to embrace your singleness while you're waiting, we're gonna talk about all that good stuff.
But ultimately, this blog series is to help you see just how much God loves you and how His Love alone can overshadow every negative thought or feeling associated with singleness.
I know there are a billion and one resources on the topic of singleness, and a lot of them are super powerful and helpful. But if you've been searching for something a lil' different, I pray that this series will be the resource that speaks to you and stirs something in you like never before. Truly His Love has opened my eyes and has helped me walk this single life with so much peace and understanding. And I’m praying that this blog series will do the same for you.
You may have noticed that this post’s music inspiration is actually a playlist and I encourage you to listen to it, download it, sing it, whatever you gotta do to get it in your spirit because I will be using some of these songs as inspiration for the upcoming blog posts.
Hold these lyrics close to your heart as we go through this series together.
I love you, my sister in Christ. Please know that I am praying for you...that you will experience His Love in a whole new way.
Peace & Blessings,
