Daily Renewal

The mind is such a powerful tool. I’ve learned that I can change a lot of things just by altering the way I think-----my attitude, approach to life, decisions, thoughts. The mindset that you choose to store within can either make or break you. Today we’re going to dive into the Word to help make us into everything the Lord desires us to be.

Scripture: And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourself] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you]. (Romans 12:2 AMP)

Whenever I want to get clarity about something or get a different perspective, I turn to Google. I was curious as to what google had to say about the human mind. Google defines the mind as “the element of a person that enables them to be aware of the world and their experiences, to think, and to feel; the faculty of consciousness and thought”. The part that stuck out to me is “enables them to be aware of the world”. In other words, our minds allow us to be mindful of the world we live in, and that’s great! We should be mindful of what’s happening around us. But what can be detrimental is when we go beyond that and allow the world to influence or change our behaviors, our thoughts, or even our relationship with Christ. As God's children, we are not of this world. We only live in it to help spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. This world is so evil and the Bible instructs us not to conform to it. Instead, we should be transformed by the renewing of our minds. (Romans 12:2)

Well how do I do that, Kiryn? I’m so happy you asked!

We are able to renew our minds by getting to know God more. (And how do we do that?...By reading what His Word says!) When we get to know God for who He truly is, we’re able to know our purpose and what His will is for our lives. I think it’s important to note that we shouldn’t just be reading His Word. We should be studying it as well. Just like you’d study before an exam to help you prepare, you should study what the Lord has said to us in order to prepare for the enemy's tactics. After all, His Word is a part of the full armor we need to fight the devil off. John 17:17 lets us know that His Word is truth and it shall sanctify us. And what shall stand against truth?! Nothing at all!

I chose the word Renew in the F.R.E.S.H. acronym because I want to encourage others (and myself) to tap into His word more! The more you read, the more you know! And the more you study, the more power you’ll gain. (because learning that thang for yo self is really where that power lies!)

I know life gets hard sometimes. We all have our moments, but the Bible reminds us that our inner person is being renewed every single day. Daily renewal helps us to live this life with a godly perspective and not with what the world tries to show us. (2 Corinthians 4:16-18) Remember, we walk by FAITH, and not by sight!

Don't forget that the Lord is always with you and when you develop a deeper relationship with Him, the Holy Spirit shall be your guide. He shall give you what to say, how to think, & how to live this life according to His will.

Song: Change Me - Tamela Mann

Call To Action: This week, I really want you to go about your days thinking "WWJD: What Would Jesus Do?" Sometimes we use that phrase as a joke, but really, it could be your way to having a better day. Thinking on how Jesus would approach a situation or the kind of attitude He would have when faced with life's challenges could really be the key to knowing what to do and how to do it. Tap into the Holy Spirit by reading His word every day and get renewed so you can receive your reFRESHment from the Lord.

Peace & Blessings,
